The Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast in New York’s Hudson Valley is welcoming guests with a slice of pie this September, marking its ninth year in a row of welcoming guests with the homemade treat.
“Before the pandemic, we’d place the pie on the pillow and we’d called this initiative Pie on the Pillow, it’s always been very popular,” explained Dena Finneran, who co-owns the bed and breakfast with her husband, John. “We’ve since changed the location of pie but the thought and care that goes into each slice remains the same.”
The inn, about an hour’s drive from New York City, still hopes to help guests elicit sweet dreams, particularly after the incredibly stressful time its been for everyone.
The pies are all made by Dena using seasonal, locally-sourced fruits, for the filling. This year’s pies include apple, cherry pie, and cream pie, among others. Caldwell House began serving the pies for individual reservations on the Tuesday after Labor Day (September 6) and will continue through September 30th.
The Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast is a multi-award-winning member of the prestigious Select Registry and Diamond Collection groups of Inns. The B&B is one of the top 25 bed and breakfasts across the country, according to the most recent yearly list by BedandBreakfast.com. It also was recently inducted into TripAdvisor’s Hall of Fame for earning a Certificate of Excellence for five consecutive years. Located in the heart of the Hudson Valley– close to the United States Military Academy at West Point, the Storm King Arts Center, Brotherhood Winery (and many of the Shawangunk Wine Trail Wineries), and the Woodbury Premium Outlet Mall. Some of the Hudson Valley’s most beautiful hiking/biking trails are within easy driving distance. Built in 1802, this historic inn is full of many original features, antiques and original paintings, as well as modern amenities. Each guest room includes its own private full bath (several with Jacuzzi tub for two), smart TVs with Netflix/Hulu, free Wi-Fi Internet access, individual room temperature controls, and more. Many of the rooms have gas fireplaces. All of the rooms and common areas now undergo enhanced COVID-19 precautionary measures to ensure guest and staff safety.
