JAV Mergelių salos perima Philly

JAV Mergelių salos (USVI) grįžo į „Made in America“ kaip vienintelė paskirties rėmėja, atnešusi #MadeinParadise. Remdamas šį renginį, JAV Mergelių salų turizmo departamentas pakvietė vietinį USVI atlikėją 5'2 pasirodyti pasaulinėje arenoje ir surengė ryškiausią ir entuziastingiausią aktyvinimo erdvę Cause Village, sukurdamas ketvirtąją festivalio sceną. .

A reported 80,000 festival goers attended the two-day event, while all undoubtedly encountered the USVI activation space due to its strategic positioning enroute to the main stage. The space was unofficially deemed a fourth Made in America stage as thousands united at the space to fete on the parkway due to the enchantment of the island music, dancers, stilt dancers (Moko Jumbies), and the Instagram worthy backdrops reminiscent of the islands of St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas.

Simultaneously, a fleet of St. Croix branded cars swarmed the parkway and will be available for consumers in the Philadelphia region for select ride shares.

“There is no denying the USVI’s presence was seen and felt in Philadelphia this weekend. Our strategic objective was to reach the Philadelphia market by leveraging one of the most prominent and influential music festivals and promote tourism to the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was reported nearly, 481,000 people would be flying in and out of Philadelphia during the Labor Day travel period, a 17% increase from previous years. This was an opportunity for us to reach these travelers as we gear up for our seasonal relaunch of our Philadelphia flights in October”, says Joseph Boschulte, Commissioner of Tourism.

A unique element to the #MadeInParadise partnership included bringing a local VI artist to perform on the Made in America stage. The Department of Tourism wanted to infuse USVI culture beyond the cause village activation and to one of the main stages. After putting out a request to local VI artists, the Department of Tourism received and submitted four Virgin Island artists press kits (Mic Love, 5’2, Scarzeo, and Th3rd) and the RocNation team selected 5’2 as their artist to perform for the first time ever on a global stage. True to the Virgin Islands spirit of unity, both Scarzeo and Th3rd attended Made in America to support 5’2’s first ever live performance.

“As the Director of Division of Festivals for USVI Department of Tourism, this #MadeinParadise partnership was an opportunity to not only promote tourism to the U.S. Virgin Islands but showcase our incredible musical talent. Having RocNation hand select 5’2 as an official performer at a globally recognized stage was incredible to witness. We want to continue to provide opportunities for our local artists and bring VI culture to the world. We brought a glimpse of Carnival to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and it doesn’t end there. We hope to welcome everyone to our upcoming St. Croix Crucian Festival and look forward to additional opportunities and collaborations with RocNation”, says Ian Turnbull, Director of Division of Festivals.

The fete doesn’t end with the 2022 Made in America partnership as the territory has already solidified their position as a destination partner for 2023. Up next, the world has its eyes set on St. Croix Crucian Festival, taking place December 30 – January 7.
